My Blackee

by James Collier

Wassup, homeboys and home girls! Welcome to Blackee, the ultimate TV site for brothas and sistas everywhere! In this month's column we are talking about hottest topic for African Americans everywhere-- "Is Oprah Still Black?"

"She looks black to me. But what I'd really like to talk you about is jazz, the only true American art form."
-- Stanley Crouch, Syndicated Columnist

"My girlfriend is a nubian princess."
-- Star Jones, The View

"Most definitely."
-- Gladys Knight, singer

"Oprah is the blackest of the black, and brownest of the brown. Much like Ebony magazine, a publication of Johnson Publishing, the largest Black-owned publisher in America!"
-- John H. Johnson, president, Johnson Publishing

Another hot topic you've been buzzing about is ER's Eriq LaSalle! So I asked folks the question you wanted the answer to: "Should Eriq be kissing any more white women in future episodes of ER?"

"I felt it was a disrespect to sistas everywhere when they had Eriq kissin' that white woman from England!"
-- Queen Latifah. rapper and talk show host

"Why is it when the brothas get a little money in they pockets they gotta get all up on the white women? If my husband Will did that to me, I'd whip his ass."
-- Jada Pinkett, actress

"I say there's nothing more beautiful than black on black love. That's why in every issue of Ebony magazine you'll article that will keep the bonds between a black man and a black woman strong!"
-- John H. Johnson, president, Johnson Publishing

BLACK FACES ON THE TUBE THIS WEEK: Ossie Davis Jr. plays an eccentric homeless man who refuses treatment on City of Angels. You can also see Ossie on NYPD Blue where he plays an eccentric old coot who refuses to assist hot new cast member Henry Simmons in an investigation. On CBS' Family Law, Ossie plays an eccentric preacher who ignores Kathleen Quinan's advice to settle a case with his son after he has vision in which his wife to implores him to "nail our boy's balls to the wall." Two words: compelling drama. And finally, Georg Sanford Brown plays a delusional who's committed to Bellevue on ABC's Wonderland.
