The Duque family rules a sugar cane and rum empire. But things aren’t as sweet as you might think. Brother Frank (Nestor Carbonell) wants to sell the family’s sugar holdings to the rival Samuels family. Favored brother-in-law Alex Vega (Jimmy Smits) doesn’t. Patriarch Pancho (Hector Elizando) knows the horrible facts about the two families’ violent past. Family, money, power, sex, business, and violence combine to tell the story of the Duque family and its rivals. Let the internecine jealousies and corporate rivalries commence!

Why It Won't:	If Jimmy Smits can get himself elected leader of the free world, then certainly heading up the family booze business should be within his abilities.
